Section 8 assistance is offered through the Housing Authority monthly to help low income individuals pay their rent.
Eligibility is determined by the Public Housing Authority based on income, assets, and family composition.
Families are allowed to chose their own housing unit as long as the landlord accepts Section 8 payments and agrees to rent price. However, the Public Housing Agency must approve the unit.
Due to low funds, there are often long waiting lists. You will not receive assistance if your household income exceeds 50% of the median income for your county.
